Services Offered

Joint Directorate of Extension Education offers various kinds of educational and other input services to the livestock owners, professionals and other entrepreneurs through its other extension wings ( Division of Extension Education, KVK, ATIC, Communication Centre etc) and other extension education programmes. The details of extension educational activities and services provided to different stakeholders are given below:

Annual Farmer's Fair and Animal Science Exhibition
  • ICAR Institutes, SAUs, State Governments, NGOs and Business Organizations participate in these events with exhibition stalls.
  • Farmers' group discussion, demonstrations and animal competitions are organized.
  • Thousand of farmers, farm women, students and extension personnel visit the farmers fair.
  • Various farm based inputs are sold by various exhibitions stalls.
Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK)
  • Imparts On and Off Campus training to farmers, farm women, rural youth and extension personnel.
  • Conducts vocational training to rural youth on dairy, piggery, goat farming, para-vet, AI, etc.).
  • Conducts OFTs and demonstrations in crop and livestock enterprise.
Agricultural Technology Information Centre (ATIC)
  • Single-window delivery service.
  • Sale of farm produce and immunobiologicals.
  • Offers consultancy both in person as well as through Helpline (Phone # 0581-2311111) and Kisan Call Centre (1800-180-1551)
  • Conducts the visits.
Sponsored Training Programmes
  • Organizes training courses to farmers, rural youth, field functionaries (50 to 60 every year) sponsored by State Departments of Animal Husbandry, Agri, Horticulture, UPDASP, NGOs and other development Agencies.
  • Specialized training programmes for field veterinarians sponsored by Ministry of Agriculture, Govt. of India, UPDASP, SDAH and MANAGE are organized every year.
  • Agri-clinic and Agri-business course conducted for 26 agricultural graduates during 2003.
Animal Health-cum-Production Camps
  • On an average 15-20 Animal-Health-cum-Production Camps are organized every year, besides weekly animal health camps at Rithoura, Bareilly.
  • On an average 400-500 animals are treated in each camp.
  • Clinical conference of experts and field veterinarians is held during every camp.
  • Group discussion with farmers and exhibitions are organized.
  • Demonstration of IVRI technologies.
Veterinary Polyclinic
  • Provides services to livestock owners in disease diagnosis and treatment of sick animals.
  • Cases of clinical, gynacological and surgical nature are treated by experts.
Consultancy Services
  • Consultancy services are offered to State Depts., NGOs and other Agencies on Animal-Health, Production, Management and Livestock Products Technology and also to entrepreneurs in establishing their units for self-employment.
Support to ATMA
  • Scientific support to ATMA of Bareilly, Baghpat, Meerut, Pilibhit, Sajahanpur, Badaun and other districts by way of organizing farmer-scientist interactions, animal health camps, trainings etc.

  • Instant experts answers are provided to the questions address by the farmers.

Other Field Extension Education Programmes
  • Organizing field days, vaccination and deworming campaigns.
  • Excursion of farmers (visit to SAUs and research institute's farmers fair, dairy farms etc.)
  • Organizing and participating in national, regional and divisional exhibitions by putting up exhibition stalls.
  • Publication and distribution of farm literature.
  • Organizing "Farmers School on Air" in collaboration with AIR, Bareilly and Rampur.
  • Telecast and broadcast of talks by experts on improved packages of practices/technologies related to animal husbandry and veterinary through Doordarshan, E-TV and AIR.
  • Organizing farmers participatory workshop.
  • Organizing scientists and veterinary officers interface.
  • Organizing educational film show for livestock owners.
  • Organizing Kisan gosthies
  • Organizing training programmes for field veterinarians, veterinary pharmacists, line department officials, livestock owners and other field functionaries.
