About Division
Division of Livestock Economics and Statistics was initiated as Central Statistical Section in 1957-58.
The Central Statistical Section was started with the aim to assist the research workers in planning the experiments/ projects, analysis and interpretation of data pertaining to Statistics only.
This section took the responsibility of teaching Statistics as a minor paper to Post-Graduate students since the inception of affiliation of IVRI to Agra University.
The activities of this Section enhanced many fold due to addition of Mechanical Data Processing facilities for faster analysis of research data.
This section grew into a full-fledged Division of Livestock Economics & Statistics in 1975 during the V Five Year Plan.
Actual functioning of the Division was started during the year 1976 when it was allotted two wings on third floor of the Modular Laboratory Building and was shifted from A.G. Division to here.
In the beginning, Dr. Rajendra Singh, Assistant Statistician started functioning as Incharge of the Division under the direct control of Principal/Joint Director IVRI, Izatnagar but during the year 1976, this control was entrusted to Dr. B.G. Katpatal, PC (AB).
Dr. Parmatma Singh was appointed as the first Head of this Division on 19.8.80. He continued as Head of Division till 11.4.90.
Thereafter, Dr. Rajendra Singh became the Head of this Division on 12.4.90 and still functioning as Head. The history of the Division of Livestock Economics & Statistics will never be complete without mentioning the contribution of late Dr. C.M. Singh, Director and Dr. P.N. Bhat H.D.(A.G.), IVRI, Izatnagar (U.P.) at that time.
On the behest of Dr. C.M. Singh, Dr. Rajendra Singh under the guidance of Dr. P.N. Bhat formulated the plan proposal to elevate the tiny Central Statistical Section into a giant Division of Livestock Economics & Statistics to fulfill the need of the hour.
Information Technology became a new added branch to the Division of Livestock Economics & Statistics in the year 2004 on the recommendation of QRT and the name of the division was changed to Division of Livestock Economics, Statistics and Information Technology
