About Standardisation Division
The Division of Standardisation was established in 1969 for standardisation quality control of veterinary biologicals, maintenance of type cultures of microorganisms, research and post-graduate teaching and education in the discipline.
The Division has a de-facto recognition as an analytical laboratory to the Government of India for quality control of veterinary vaccines, diagnostic antigens and sera, and test the standards of the biologicals sent / received from the Drugs Controller Authority of the country.
Formulating the standards for newer veterinary biologicals and raising the existing standards of biologicals, inclusion in revised schedule F-1 of the Drugs & Cosmetics Act are yet another responsibility of the Division. The Division also provides providing advisory services to the veterinary biological units in the country and the Drugs Controller, Government of India.
The Division maintains and provides the type cultures of microorganisms to various organisations in the country and abroad for their use in research, teaching and of seed strains for production and standardisation of biologicals.
