Salient Achievements

• Different techniques were used for analysis of micro-array and other data.
• Students and Scientists of IVRI and other organizations were trained in handling Bioinformatics databases for sequence analysis, primer designing, Probe searching and micro-array analysis.
• Ten putative cancer (AML) causing genes were identified.
• Twenty seven mi-RNA UTR sequences were analyzed for predicting mi-RNA target which gave 143 possible targets with 81.14% accuracy.

Bibliographic databases

1. LIVESTOCK DISEASE DATABASE : A new database with good software containing various fields of knowledge about diseases of livestock has been developed to meet the requirement of veterinarians and people engaged in animal husbandry, health management, teaching and research pursuits. The database will have the facility to incorporate new data/information. Along with the disease information this database will also provide facilities such as :

   Data Searching System	Data Retrieval System
   Data Analysis System	Data Editing System
   Data Comparison System	Pair Wise Alignment
   Multiple sequence alignment Phylogenetic analysis

   It is to be noted that extra features will be provided for the help of the user and to facilitate the analysis of the database. For the use of every analysis, software with instructions will be created.

2. LIVESTOCK DATABASE:A livestock database containing livestock population has been created at Bioinformatics Centre. This database contains district level information of livestock population for the census years 1997 and 2003 and statewise information was included on almost all the parameters for the period 1951 – 2003. This database will help in selecting the economically viable livestock to be propagated in the population taking into account genetic profile by using microarray technologies. The disease profile of livestock will help us in developing suitable and economic therapy for the livestock and will open the new gate for drug discovery process by creating drug discovery model through sequencing or microarray technology.

Training Imparted

• Training programme on ‘Bioinformatics Databases and Accession’ sponsored by DBT Govt. of India, New Delhi had been organized from January 29th – February 1st, 2004 at Bioinformatics Centre, IVRI, Izatnagar.
• Training programme on ‘Bioinformatics Databases and Accession’ sponsored by DBT, Govt. of India, New Delhi had been organized from November 14 to 17, 2005 at Bioinformatics Centre, IVRI, Izatnagar. The topics covered in this training programme were i) The central postulates, ii) Bioinformatics Data bases, iii) Networks, iv) Search engines in Bioinformatics, v) Data visualization, vi) Statistics and Data Mining, vii) Pattern matching, viii) Data Analysis using statistical tools (SPSS).
• National Workshop cum Training Programme on ‘Bio-computing’ sponsored by DBT, Govt. of India, New Delhi. was organised from March 24 to 27, 2007 at Bioinformatics Centre, IVRI, Izatnagar. The topics covered in this training programme were i) Livestock as a component of Integrated Farming System. ii) Molecular Tools for Genomics Analysis, iii) Proteomics, iv) Fitting of Nonlinear model, v) Sequence Analysis, vi) Drug Designing and Future Trends, vii) Data Mining Techniques in Bioinformatics, viii) Data Analysis Tools for Microarrays and ix) Networking and Search Engine.
• National Workshop cum Training Programme on ‘Bioinformatics’ sponsored by DBT, Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt. of India, New Delhi was organized at Bioinformatics Centre, IVRI, Izatnagar from August 26 to 28, 2008.
• National workshop cum training programme on “Bioinformatics Tools for Genome Analysis” from March 14-16, 2011. 26 participants were selected for the workshop and Certificates has been awarded to successful participants on completion of the training .
• National workshop cum training programme on “In-silico Approach for Genome Analysis” from March 22-24, 2012.
• National workshop cum training programme on “Computational Approaches in Biotechnology for beginners” from February 17-21, 2014.
